To have a happy life with your dog, you need to make sure that it is properly trained. A dog who is well-trained will know how to behave. Once he is trained, you will have less worry when you leave him home alone, have visitors or take him out in public. It might not have been an easy road, but you will soon know that the time you spent on training your dog will have been worth it.
Your dog needs to get plenty of exercise. Dogs can get bored easily. A bored dog will try and find something interesting to do, and training is not usually interesting. When your dog is exercised and is happy, training will be easier. You and your dog can run or walk together daily.
Give them chew toys for pain relief while teething, and keep everything else out of reach. You should replace the object with a chew toy as soon as this occurs so your dog understands what is okay to chew on. Puppies sometimes chew objects while going through their teething phase. A wet cloth that has been frozen is perfect for them during this time.
To strengthen your training efforts, you can use a designated verbal command to help your animal understand what your expectations are and when they have been fulfilled. “Yes” works very well when said the same way time and time again.
Practice patience when you are training your dog. This reduces frustration and annoyance when canine training. Your dog wants to do what you ask him to, but you have to give him the commands in a way in which he understands what is expected.
Teaching a new puppy to “leave it” is very important and one of the first commands that you should work on. This basic command is extremely helpful when your dog is chewing on something he shouldn’t and also helps to keep him away from dangerous items.
